The blade is crafted from laminated Aogami #2 steel (also known as Blue Steel), a high-carbon steel known for its exceptional sharpness and edge retention. The blade features a tsuchime (hammered) finish, which not only adds a unique handcrafted appearance but also helps reduce friction during cutting by minimizing surface contact.

The knife has a single-bevel edge—sharpened only on one side—which results in a thinner and more precise cutting edge than a double-beveled blade. The single bevel makes this knife perfect for right-handed individuals. This design is especially useful for making extremely fine, detailed cuts. For safety and stability during use, the blade locks securely into place when fully opened.

Care Instructions:
Wipe clean, and keep oilded with mineral oil

Returns must be made within 2 weeks in original, unused condition with all packaging for either 1. Store credit for the full amount or 2. Refund - minus a 20% restocking fee. Tortoise does not cover the cost of return shipping or the cost of re-shipping an exchange, and the cost of shipping for returns and exchanges is the responsibility of the customer.
