Handmade by a 2nd generation doll maker, Hisako Kakiuchi. Each ceramic whistle makes a low and hollow sound when blown gently.

History:
These whimsical doll-shaped whistles were designated a Special Traditional Craft by the government of Fukuoka, Japan. Hisako Kakichui trained under her father and doll maker, Keichi Kakiuchi and master doll-maker, Yoichi Kojima. Many of her pieces belong to the Kyushu National Museum and her award winning designs have been recognized both in Japan and abroad.

Each whistle is handmade so there is variation in shape, form and even "sound". There is also variation in the glaze so the whistle you receive may not be exactly the same as it is shown in the photo.
